BOSTON, Mass. (March 3, 2013) – Redshirt sophomore Corey Crawford (Oakland, N.J.) repeated as the IC4A long jump champion as he took home the title for the Rutgers men’s indoor track and field team at the 2013 IC4A Championships held at Boston University on Sunday.
Crawford won the title jumping to a distance of 7.52m, finishing .34m ahead of second place Zachary Ray of host Boston University. The Scarlet Knight redshirt sophomore is currently 23rd among all Division I long jumpers with his 7.61m performance at the New Balance Invitational in early February. He will find out tomorrow night if he qualifies for the NCAA Championships.
Also earning points for the Scarlet Knights men’s indoor track and field team was senior Chris Wyckoff (Toms River, N.J.) in the pole vault and the 4x800m relay team. Wyckoff took fifth in the pole vault clearing a height of 4.95m. The 4x800m relay squad ran to its best time since 2005. The team of junior Steve Burkholder (Marlton, N.J.), sophomore Chris DeFabio (Millington, N.J.), junior Karon Purcell (East Windsor, N.J.), and senior Monroe Kearns (Jackson, N.J.) ran to a time of 7:30.56 to take sixth.
Overall the Scarlet Knights finished tied for 18th place.
