PRINCETON, N.J. (April 20, 2013) -- The Rutgers men’s track and field team brought home seven BIG EAST and five IC4A qualifying marks from this weekend’s Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton University.
Redshirt sophomore Corey Crawford (Oakland, N.J.) led the way with a BIG EAST qualifying performance in the long jump along with league and IC4A qualifying marks in the 100m and 200m. Crawford placed second in the long jump leaping to a distance of 7.04m. He took third in the 200m logging a time of 21.46 and fourth in the 100m crossing the finish line in 10.76.
In other field events, the Scarlet Knights had second place results from senior Adam Bergo (Plainfield, N.J.) in the high jump and senior Chris Wyckoff (Toms River, N.J.) in the pole vault. Bergo cleared a height of 2.09m in the high jump for a BIG EAST and IC4A qualifying standard. Wyckoff meanwhile cleared the bar at a height of 4.90m (BIG EAST & IC4A Qualifier) in the pole vault, while teammate senior Pat Gray (East Windsor, N.J.) reached 4.65m (BIG EAST Qualifier) to finish in sixth.
Additionally, freshman Thomas Carr (Voorhees, N.J.) threw for a distance of 60.50m in the javelin. His third place finish was another BIG EAST & IC4A qualifying mark for the Scarlet Knights.
RU also had a second place performance from sophomore Chris DeFabio (Millington, N.J.) in the 1500m. DeFabio finished in a time of 3:56.71.
The Rutgers men’s track and field team returns to action at the prestigious Penn Relays Thu. – Sat. April 25-27 in Philadelphia, Pa.
