PISCATAWAY, N.J. (February 5, 2014) – Junior D’Andre Jordan (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was named the American Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week after capturing titles in the 200m and 400m and helping the Scarlet Knights to a second place finish at the 2014 Metropolitan Championships last weekend.
Jordan repeated as the 400m champion and improved one spot from last season to take home the 200m title, capturing personal bests in both events.
Jordan beat out teammate sophomore Rajee Dunbar (Arlington, Va.) by .20 seconds to earn the 200m title in a personal best time of 22.08. He also had a PR and IC4A qualifying time in taking home the 400m title for the second straight year, logging a time of 48.39.
In addition to his 200m and 400m titles, Jordan joined teammates senior Corey Caidenhead (Bergenfield, N.J.), Dunbar and sophomore Kyle Holder (Randolph, N.J.) in capturing second in the 4x400 relay. The RU relay team put together an IC4A qualifying time of 3:15.58.
The Rutgers men’s indoor track and field squad returns to action at the Rider/Lafayette Invitational on Friday, Feb. 14.
