PISACATAWAY, N.J. (May 21, 2014) – The Rutgers men’s outdoor track and field team is ranked ninth in the final U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Mid-Atlantic Region Poll.
The Scarlet Knights are coming off its IC4A Championship appearance where redshirt junior Corey Crawford (Oakland, N.J.) set a new school record in capturing the long jump title with teammate Emeka Eze (Sayreville, N.J.) qualifying for next week’s NCAA East Regional as the runner-up. The Scarlet Knights also placed sixth at the American Athletic Conference Championships in early May with Crawford capturing the conference’s long jump title and sophomore Thomas Carr (Voorhees, N.J.) earning his second consecutive conference crown in the javelin. Additionally RU’s 4x400 relay team took home silver at the AAC Championships with freshman Jermaine Griffith (Hamilton, N.J.) in the 400m and the 4x100 relay team capturing bronze.
Several members of the Rutgers men’s track and field team will be competing at the NCAA East Regional hosted by North Florida May 29-31. A complete list of Scarlet Knights vying to reach the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon in June will be available later in the week.
