Marshall had two of the six first-place finishes that the Scarlet Knights captured, finishing first in the long jump (5.52m) while also winning the 55 high hurdles (8.27), a jump that qualified her for ECAC competition. She also placed third in the 55-meter dash (7.27).
Other first place finishes were won by Claire Inskeep (Sayreville, NJ), who finished first in the 20-pound weight competition with a throw of 15.99m and Kerry Ann Mitchell (East Orange, NJ), who won the high jump and qualified for ECAC competition with a jump of 1.70m. Dominique Sanon (Bridgeport, CT) won the 500-meter with a time of 1:16.29 and the 4x400m relay team of Angela Messerschmidt (Berwick, PA), Desiree Battle (Syracuse, NY), Danielle Hobson (West Orange, NJ) and Sanon took first with a time of 3:56.23.
Battle also secured a second-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 11.36m. Kahimah Liverman (Paterson, NJ) took fourth in the same event at 10.75. Jacqueline Todd had two third-place finishes, with a mark of 7.39 in the 55- meter dash and 40.87 in the 300-meter dash. Hobson took third in the 500- meter dash with a time of 1:17.75.
In the mile-run, Jamie Kerstetter (Monroe, NJ) took third with a time of 5:22.30
and Julie Clifford (Haworth, NJ) finished fourth with a time of 5:29.26. Messerschmidt
took fourth place in the 55-meter hurdles (8.82m) and Reva McEachern (Pennsauken,
NJ) took fourth place in the high jump with a jump of 1.60m.
On the men’s side, David Klics (Lincoln Park, NJ) had a mark of 7.53m to win the 55-meter hurdles while Lonnie Washington (Elizabeth, NJ) won the high jump competition with a mark of 2.06m. Lloyd Nolan (Bronx, NY) secured first in the pole vault at 4.60m and Marquis Allen (Mays Landing, NJ) took first in the long jump with a jump of 7.56m.
Anthony Butler (Pittsgrove, NJ) finished the high jump in second place with a jump of 1.96m and Kevin Chan (Wilton, NJ) took third place in the long jump with a jump of 6.92m.
Rowan Clarke (Teaneck, NJ) finished the triple jump in sixth with a mark of 13.71m and Greg Ostrowicki (Howell, NJ) took fifth in the high jump with a jump of 1.96.
The track and field seasons began on Sunday, Dec. 1, with four members of the men’s team and five members of the women’s team competing in the Manhattan Pentathlon at Manhattan College. St. John’s also competed in the event.
The women’s team will continue their season on Friday, Jan. 10 at the Lehigh Pentathlon and then return to Princeton, NJ, on Saturday, Jan. 11. On Saturday, Jan. 18 RU will compete in the Penn State Invitational.
The men will begin their team competition in the Busch Bubble on Saturday, Jan. 11, hosting Georgetown and The College of New Jersey in their only home meet of the season.
