PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Six student-athletes on the Rutgers men’s track and field team garnered All-BIG EAST recognition for their performances at the 2009 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships last weekend.
The group received the distinction for placing in the top three of their respective events. Senior Bruce Owens (Wenonah, N.J.) won the 200-meter dash, while junior Jeremy Pennino (Watchung, N.J.) took top honors in the javelin, highlighting Rutgers’ performances at the postseason meet.
Senior Kyle Grady (East Brunswick, N.J.) also enjoyed a stellar day on the track, placing second in the 110-meter hurdles. Freshman Adam Bergo (Plainfield, N.J.) recorded a pair of runner-up finishes as he took second in the high jump and triple jump.
Senior Brandon Burkhardt (Dallas, Pa.) and sophomore Christopher Bradley (Nutley, N.J.) helped wrap up a 1-2-3 finish in the javelin, with the pair occupying the remaining two spots on the podium along with Pennino. Burkhardt placed second followed by Bradley in third.
Rutgers will next compete on Friday, May 15, through Sunday, May 17 with the men taking part in the IC4A Championships and the women contending in the ECAC Championships in Princeton, N.J.
