NEW ORLEANS, La. (July 26, 2012) – The Rutgers women’s track and field team received recognition for its academic achievement by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), being named to the All-Academic Team. It marked the third straight honor for the Scarlet Knights.
“This is a great distinction for our program and Rutgers University,” said head women’s track and field coach James Robinson. “Our student-athletes work so hard in the classroom and they are equally committed to achieving academically as well as athletically. It’s also a testament to the outstanding support we receive from our administration and academic advisors.”
A total of 171 institutions earned the distinction as a result of a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better. The Scarlet Knights maintained a 3.15 grade point average as the BIG EAST led all other conferences with 12 teams.
