PRINCETON, N.J. (April 20, 2013) – The Rutgers outdoor women’s track and field team was back in action this weekend at the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton University.
The Scarlet Knights had a trio placed in the top eight of 400m led by sophomore Christa Dibernardo’s (Woodbury, N.Y.) second place finish. Dibernardo crossed the finish line in a BIG EAST and ECAC qualifying time of 55.13, while teammates freshman Alayna Famble (Stockbridge, Ga.) took sixth with her time of 56.73 and junior Corryn Hurrington (Bowie, Md.) placed eighth logging a time of 57.28.
Also capturing a BIG EAST qualifying mark was freshman Kaprice James (Roselle, N.J.) in the 100m hurdles. James, who placed ninth, registered a time of 14.76.
RU’s 4x100 relay team took third overall clocking in at 46.72. The team, comprised of Famble, Hurrington, James and freshman Niyah Lamar (Parsipanny, N.J.), notched an ECAC qualifying time.
Other notable performances include ninth place finishes by Lamar in the 100m (12.37), Hurrington in the 200m (24.85) and junior Emily Vargas (Clark, N.J.) in the high jump (1.60m).
The Rutgers women’s track and field team returns to action at the prestigious Penn Relays Thu. – Sat. April 25-27 in Philadelphia, Pa.
