PISCATAWAY, N.J.  (July 21, 2014) – The Rutgers women’s track and field team unveiled its 2015 indoor and outdoor schedules on Monday, as the Scarlet Knights enter their first season in the Big Ten.  The Scarlet Knights will host the Rutgers Invitational in both the upcoming indoor and outdoor seasons.

The indoor slate kicks off right after New Year’s as the Scarlet Knights host the Rutgers Invitational at the Busch Indoor Bubble on January 9-10. RU ventures into Big Ten territory traveling to the Penn State Invitational on January 16-17.  Rutgers will then wrap up January with appearances at the NYU Team Challenge on January 23 and the New Balance Invitational on January 30-31.

February will start with the Scarlet Knights participating at the Metropolitan Championships at the NYC Armory on February 6-7 and continues with competition at the Valentine’s Invitational on February 13-14.

The Rutgers women’s track and field team goes after its first Big Ten Championship held February 13 -14 at the Spire Institute in Athens, Ohio.

The indoor season comes to a close with the ECAC Championships on March 6-8 in Boston, Massachusetts and the NCAA Championships, held this year in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on March 13-14.

Last indoor season, Rutgers captured six top eight performances at the American Athletic Conference Championships, placed fourth at the ECAC Championships and won the Metropolitan Championship title with five event victories.

The outdoor season gets underway on March 20 at the Bulls Invitational, followed by the Scarlet Knights making an appearance at the Raleigh Relays on March 27-28.

The Colonial Relays kick off a busy month of April. After the Colonial Relays on April 3-4, RU will travel to the Spec Towns Invitational on April 10-11 in Athens, Georgia and make its way down Route 1 to Princeton for the Larry Ellis Invitational on April 17-18. The Scarlet Knights round out April with the  121st  running of the Penn Relays on April 23-25.

The Scarlet Knights will host its lone outdoor meet of the season at the Rutgers Invitational, set for May 1-2, a tune up prior to the Big Ten Championships hosted by Michigan State on May 15-17.

The NCAA East Regional gets underway on May 28-30 in Jacksonville, Florida and the NCAA Championship will once again take place at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.

The Scarlet Knights finished last outdoor season ranked fifth in the final U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Mid-Atlantic Region Poll, its highest ranking in history. RU  earned a total of five medals led by rising senior Gabrielle Farquharson (Williamstown, N.J.) capturing the American Athletic Conference long jump title and a bronze in the 200m.  Rutgers also had seven additional top eight performances at the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships and sent six Scarlet Knights to the NCAA East Regional.
