SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. (October 24 2009) – The Rutgers volleyball team continues to struggle in conference play as it fell to intrastate rival Seton Hall Saturday afternoon at Walsh Gym in South Orange, N.J. by a 3-0 score.
The Pirates (9-14, 3-5 BIG EAST) defeated the Scarlet Knights (8-15, 1-7 BIG EAST) by scores of 25-19, 25-23, 25-20. RU has dropped six straight conference matches, all by a 3-0 score.
Junior outside hitter Caitlin Saxton (Encinitas, Calif.) posted a double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs.
Setters freshman Stephanie Zielinski (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) and sophomore Kallie Pence (College Station, Texas) each posted double digits in assists as they scored 10 and 14, respectively.
The Pirates had four student-athletes post double digits in kills as Meghan Matusiak led the way with a match-high 15.
Rutgers will continue its road swing as it travels to DePaul on Saturday, Oct. 31 and Notre Dame on Sunday, Nov. 1
