PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Nov. 9, 2009) Rutgers volleyball junior outside hitter Caitlin Saxton (Encinitas, Calif.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the second straight week, the conference office announced Monday. Saxton earned the recognition after an outstanding weekend of conference play, as she swatted a combined 45 kills on a .255 attack percentage against Connecticut and St. John’s.
The five-foot-nine outside hitter has earned three honors in the past seven days adding her selection to the ESPN The Magazine Academic District 2 team with the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll accolades.
Saxton scored her sixth double-double of the season in RU’s win over St. John’s on Sunday with 23 kills and 15 digs. Saxton’s 23 kills tied for the third-most kills by a BIG EAST student-athlete in a conference match this season.
In the Connecticut match, Saxton scored a match-high 22 kills on 55 attempts. The Encinitas, Calif. native has notched 20-plus kills in six matches this season.

Saxton leads the Scarlet Knights in kills in 2009 with 364. She is listed in the top-10 of two BIG categories as she ranks seventh in kills per set (3.60) and ninth in points per set (3.96.)
Saxton’s 1,086 attempts this season ranks seventh in the school’s single-season record book.
Saxton’s second weekly honor roll selection marks the third time a Scarlet Knight has garnered the distinction this season as sophomore middle blocker Hannah Curtis (Wasilla, Alaska) earned the accolade the week of Sept. 14-20.
Saxton and the Scarlet Knights complete the regular season next weekend when they travel to West Virginia on Saturday and Pittsburgh on Sunday.
