Tennis Continues Road Stretch at Army

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (February 14, 2014) - The Rutgers tennis team will play its second-straight road match on Sunday, Feb. 16, as the team travels to West Point, N.Y., to face Army at 1 p.m. RU has played just one of its first three contests of the season at home and will participate in second of six-straight road matches.

Rutgers (2-1) enters Sunday's match after splitting a pair of decisions last weekend. The Scarlet Knights defeated Fairleigh Dickinson, 5-2, on Feb. 7 in their home opener before surrendering a 6-1 road loss to the Quakers of Penn on Feb. 9. Against FDU, Rutgers began the day by sweeping the doubles point and captured four of the six singles matches to secure the win.

In singles play, sophomore Lindsey Kayati (Monroeville, N.J.) holds a perfect 3-0 record and has produced a 2-1 mark in doubles action along with fellow sophomore Gina Li (Hillsborough, N.J.).

Army enters Sunday's match with a perfect 6-0 record, which includes a 5-2 victory on Feb. 9 against Fordham in the team's last time out. The Black Knights have not allowed more than three points in any of their six matches this season. The hosts will welcome St. Bonaventure at 9 a.m. on Sunday before taking on RU later on in the afternoon.
