April 1, 2017

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - In her third trip to NCAA Regionals representing Rutgers gymnastics, junior Libby Groden turned in her best performance in the meet with a 39.050 all-around total Saturday inside the WVU Coliseum. She had previously gathered a 39.025 in 2016 and a 38.850 in 2015.

"Libby had a really good competition," head coach Louis Levine said. "She hit all four routines and really put on her best show for the crowd. It was a great way to conclude the season."

"It was a pretty good meet," Groden said. "I had a few mistakes, but came out with a good all-around score anyway. It was a great end to my junior season with hitting every event."

After a bye to start, Groden swung to a 9.775 in her first action on uneven bars before picking up a 9.700 on balance beam. The Second Team All-Big Ten selection then earned her best score of the night with a 9.825 on floor exercise, tying her season high. A 9.750 vault run completed the circuit. Groden ended the year scoring at least a 9.700 in 41-of-52 routines.

It was Groden's ninth career meet reaching the 39.000 all-around mark.
