Jumpers Lead The Way in Women's T/F Outdoor Opener

Freshman Courtney Campbell Takes Second in High Jump; Fifth-Year Senior Bryanna Grant Lands in Third in Triple Jump

ATLANTA, Georgia The Rutgers women's track and field team captured nine top ten performances, with five coming from Scarlet Knights making their outdoor debuts, in the first outdoor meet of the 2018 season at the Yellow Jacket Invitational. RU saw five members of the jumps squad land in the top ten led by runner-up freshman Courteney Campbell in the high jump and fifth-year senior Bryanna Grant taking third in the triple jump.
 
Campbell was one of three Rutgers high jumpers in the top ten. In her first outdoor appearance as a Scarlet Knight, the Kendall Park, New Jersey native cleared the bar at 1.70m (5' 7") for a second place finish. Campbell was joined by redshirt sophomore Rhonda Rogombe in fifth at a height of 1.65m (5' 5") and sophomore Selena Thonre in eighth at 1.60m (5' 3").
 
Meanwhile, in the triple jump, Grant reached a distance of 12.41m (40' 8.75") marking her best outdoor distance at Rutgers.
 
Freshman Jacqueline Simmons also made her first outdoor appearance by taking seventh in the long jump reaching 5.64m (18' 6") followed by classmate Anna Czajkowski in 10th reaching 5.50m (18' 0.5").
 
Also in the field events, junior Halia Rosemond took seventh In the discus with a throw of 41.23m (35' 3").
 
On the track, Rutgers was led by a pair of freshmen. Dakota Gerges raced to a fourth place finish in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:03.83 and classmate Kiera Nealon collected a finish line time of 17:49.58 in the 5000m.

The Rutgers women's outdoor track and field team returns to competition at the Bulls Invitational hosted by USF in Tampa, Florida on March 22-23.
