Rutgers gymnastics welcomes eight newcomers to the roster for the 2020 season. The Meet R Freshmen series continues with Lizzy Henshall from Raleigh, North Carolina!
Name: Lizzy Henshall
One word to describe your coach: Motivating
Best athlete ever competed against: Hannah Joyner
I chose my major because: I want to stay involved with sports forever and I am also interested in management.
Favorite place to hang out on campus: In a dorm room with all my friends.
The person I most admire is and why: My brother, Nathan Henshall – he is funny, kind, and a hard worker.
If I wasn’t a gymnast, I’d be: Pole vaulting
Favorite professional sports team: Buffalo Bills
One word to describe myself in competition: Hard-working
One word to describe myself outside of competition: Bubbly
Few people know that I: do not have a middle name
Person who had the greatest influence on my athletics career: My parents because they support me through the ups and downs and always keep me going.
I started gymnastics because: I watched other gymnasts and wanted to do what they could do.
I chose Rutgers because: It’s the best school ever! It has the most motivating coaches, a close team, and an overall homey feeling.
Favorite cereal: Honey Nut Cheerios
The movie I’ve watched most in my lifetime is: All the Harry Potters
Favorite musician/group: Ed Sheeran/Khalid
The first song I knew all the words to is: Dynamite by Taio Cruz
If I could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, I would win a gold medal in: making breakfast
