Women's Soccer Welcomes Adriana Kuryla

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women’s soccer welcomes Adriana Kuryla to the program for the 2020-21 campaign. Kuryla brings collegiate experience to the squad as a graduate transfer from Columbia, as well as a long history of soccer success from an ECNL Championship to a U18 Women’s National Team call-up.
Kuryla joins 11 total newcomers this year, coming in as a recruiting class that ranks 8th nationally. The 2020 signing class is comprised of youth national champions, high school All-Americans, and players with youth national team experience. Additionally, Kuryla boosts the group to eight of the 11 being Garden State products and competing for the State University of New Jersey.

Prior to Rutgers: Graduate transfer from Columbia University…broke into the collegiate scene with 16 game starts as a rookie in 2016, anchoring a backline that recorded seven consecutive shutouts, ranked 22nd overall in goals-against average (0.706 GAA), ranked 14th overall in shutout percentage (0.588%), and recorded 10 shutouts over the course of the season (tied for 1st in Ivy League)…recognized on the Dean’s List for three straight seasons with the Lions…defender for the Howell Rebels and PDA O'Reilly in New Jersey...won the PDP ECNL Northeast Championship with O'Reilly in May 2015...ECNL National Finalist in 2013 & 2014…attended the U18 Women’s National Team Training Camp at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California and the ECNL Nike National Training Camp in Beaverton, Oregon, in the fall of 2015...won multiple 'Best Defense' awards in ECNL… 2019 Scholar Baller Award…2016 Sun Devil Classic All-Tournament Team…four-year varsity letterwinner at Howell High School, earning the 2014 Rookie of the Year Award…member of the National Society of High School Scholars and Rebel Scholar Program High honor roll student…named a 2016 Howell HS Distinguished Scholar.
Personal: Daughter of Emma and John Kuryla…has two siblings, Jonathan and Gabriela…earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology at Columbia.
Kuryla on why she chose Rutgers: “l chose Rutgers for the people, soccer program and the location. I’m most excited for playing soccer again with former teammates, as well as developing new friendships. I know under this coaching staff my soccer will improve immensely and I will grow as a person. I am stoked to be representing Rutgers and my home state, New Jersey. “
