Senior forward Nneka Moneme has recorded a tremendous career as part of the Rutgers women’s soccer family over the last four years. The Union, New Jersey, is now set to embark on her graduate degree following graduation this May, working towards a career as a health administrator in New York City. Moneme will miss living with so many great friends while at Rutgers. Her favorite memory of her time “On the Banks” is going to the Big Ten semifinals for two years in a row.
Moneme’s hard work on and off the field has been awarded with Academic All-Big Ten recognition, All-Big Ten selections, All-Region distinction, and numerous Big Ten Player of the Week accolades. The forward started 15 of 16 game appearances this season, helping guide Rutgers to its second straight Big Ten semifinal and ninth consecutive NCAA Tournament.
This spring, Moneme contributed a pair of goals, including the equalizer in a 1-1, double-overtime draw at Michigan to aid in securing a No. 3 seed in this year's Big Ten Tournament. The squad advanced to the Big Ten semifinals for the fourth time since joining the conference. In all four years, Moneme has also helped push the team to a NCAA appearance, strengthening the program's consistent national prominence.
Overall, Moneme has posted 19 career goals, four assists, and seven game winners across 74 game appearances for RU. As a junior in 2019, the forward recorded a team-high 11 goals, which included six gamewinners to rank No. 2 on the Rutgers single-season charts. Moneme also ranks fourth in career golden goals (3), 11th in career game winning goals (7), and 11th in single-season goals (11). In the classroom, the health administration major is an Academic All-Big Ten recipient.
Moneme continues the program's tradition of sharing a “Thank You, Rutgers” note, reflecting on her career as a Scarlet Knight.
