PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's basketball (7-3, 0-1 B1G) fell to No. 12 Iowa (9-0, 1-0 B1G) on Saturday night. Â
Zachara Perkins led scoring with 11 points while Yacine Ndiaye paced the team on the boards with eight grabs. Â
How it HappenedÂ
- Iowa got out to a quick 6-0 lead, and Rutgers called its first timeout with 7:44 to play. Â
- Zachara Perkins got RU on the board with a layup, but the Hawkeyes came right back with three more points to stay ahead, 9-2. Â
- Faith Blackstone added a pair of free throws at 5:35 to keep the game within five points, 9-4. Â
- Imani Lester recorded a jumper, but Iowa countered with a 13-2 run to end the first quarter in front, 22-6. Â
- The Hawkeyes kept it going with another five points to kick off the second period. Blackstone put an end to the run with a steal and score opportunity. Â
- UI put up another seven points, but Perkins recorded a big three-point play, and Yacine Ndiaye tacked on a free throw for a four-point stretch to make it 34-12 with just under 3:30 to go. Â
- The opposition continued to pile on points, but Perkins broke up the offense with two shots at the charity stripe. Iowa ended the opening half with a jumper and went into the locker room in front, 42-14. Â
- Nene Ndiaye netted a layup to get scoring started for RU in the third, but the opponent turned it into another 11-2 stretch. Â
- Blackstone hit a huge reverse layup at 4:43 just before the 3:42 media timeout, but UI remained on top, 55-18. Â
- Iowa continued scoring to go into the final 10 minutes with a 65-18 edge. Â
- In her first game back since the season opener, Lauryn Swann netted her first points with a free throw and followed up with a steal and score. Â
- Yacine Ndiaye and Nene Ndiaye added buckets to trade scores with Iowa, but the visiting team stayed in front, 73-25.Â
- Swann netted a three out of the timeout before another media timeout at 4:48. Â
- Perkins, Kaylah Ivey and Makylah Moore all scored before the end of the contest, but Iowa came out with the victory, 79-36.Â
Knights Notes  Â
- Zachara Perkins has reached 10+ points in eight games, including six of the last seven outings. Â
- Lauryn Swann and Faith Blackstone both had big impacts off the bench with six point each.Â
- Rutgers beat Iowa in offensive rebounding, 16-15. Â
- The Scarlet Knights won the fourth quarter, 18-14. Â
