Geo Baker Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's basketball guard Geo Baker was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Baker averaged 14.5 points and four assists on the week in wins over Fordham and No. 15 Seton Hall.
Baker opened the week with 12 points, four assists and three steals in a 75-63 victory over Fordham. The 6-4 freshman followed that with a 17-point, four-assist and four-rebound performance as RU downed No. 15 Seton Hall, 71-65, in front of a sold-out RAC for its first ranked win since Jan. 11, 2015.
Baker leads all Big Ten freshmen in points per game (12.5), assists (3.8) and minutes played (31.5), while placing ninth overall in the league in steals (1.3). He has scored in double figures in six straight games.
Baker is the first Rutgers player to earn Big Ten Freshman of the Week since Corey Sanders received the accolade on Feb. 8, 2016.
