Men's Track and Field Competes Against Columbia and Princeton

At Princeton on April 17, the Scarlet Knights registered six first-place finishes. Junior All-American Sam Segond (East Stroudsburg, PA) continued his dominance in the shot put and the discus with wins in both events. He threw 18.77 meters in the shot put to break Ed Burgess' 19-year old school record and threw 58.74 meters to take the discus. Segond also competed at the Metropolitan Outdoor Championships on April 16 and won the discus with a throw of 57.87 meters.
On the track at Princeton, freshman Rob Waters (Bellmawr, NJ) continued his impressive first-year campaign with a win (21.36) in the 200-meter run and second-place finish (10.85) in the 100-meter run. Senior Lloyd Nolan (Bronx, NY) won the pole vault (4.72m), and sophomore Marquis Allen (Mays Landing, NJ) was victorious in the long jump (7.45m). Sophomore Rowan Clarke (Teaneck, NJ) registered a first-place finish in the triple jump (14.62m), while senior Christian Francisco (Bloomfield, NJ) won the javelin with a throw of 65.34 meters.
The Scarlet Knights sent a number of throwers to the Metropolitan Championships and had an excellent showing. Francisco (63.15m), freshman Ian Menewisch (Laurel Springs, NJ) (62.27m) and junior Brian Lee (Mt. Laurel, NJ) (61.01m) went 1-2-3 in the javelin.
Two members of the men's team competed at the Golden Bear Multis from April 16-17 at Kutztown. Junior Greg Ostrowicki (Howell, NJ) was victorious in the decathlon with 6,691 points, while teammate David Kilcs (Lincoln Park, NJ) finished third with 5,700 points.
The Scarlet Knights will next compete at the 110th running of the Penn Relays from Friday, April 23, to Saturday, April 24, at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, PA.
