149 Rutgers Student-Athletes Named BIG EAST Academic All-Stars

PISCATAWAY, NJ - The Scarlet Knights have excelled on the playing field as well as in the classroom, as it was announced today that 149 Rutgers student-athletes were named BIG EAST Academic All-Stars. Rutgers increased its previous mark of a year ago by 11 student-athletes.
Student-athletes qualify for BIG EAST Academic All-Star honors by maintaining a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA throughout the academic year while earning a varsity letter in a BIG EAST sport.
Earning the most selections for the second consecutive year was the women's rowing team with 21 student-athletes, followed by the men's track and field team with 15 and the women's soccer team with 14.
Men's swimming and diving finished with 12 honorees, while the women's track and field team had 10 representatives, followed by field hockey with eight. Men's cross country, men's tennis, volleyball, women's lacrosse, and women's swimming and diving each finished with seven BIG EAST Academic All-Star selections apiece.
Other teams to be represented were men's soccer (six), softball (five), women's tennis (five), baseball (four), women's basketball (four), women's golf (four), men's golf (three), and women's cross country (three).
