Incoming Rutgers Wrestlers Dobish and Russo Recognized by ASICS

PISCATAWAY, NJ - Incoming freshmen Keith Dobish (Lodi, NJ) and D.J. Russo (Netcong, NJ) were honored last week by ASICS for their decorated high school wrestling careers. Dobish was named to the 21st annual ASICS All-America Third Team, while Russo earned honorable mention status.
The ASICS All-America Team, selected by a nationwide panel of wrestling experts, is the only national all-star team for which wrestlers completing all four high-school grades are eligible. ASICS is a title sponsor of the ASICS/Vaughan USA Wrestling Fargo Junior National Championships and is a major benefactor of the sport at all levels.
Projected at 184 pounds once he comes to Rutgers, Dobish garnered 128 wins during his career at Lodi High School and was ranked fourth nationally by Wrestling USA and fifth by Intermat. Dobish, a two-time state place-winner and the 2006 state champion, wrestled for Team USA in the Dapper Dan Classic and also competed in the Dream Team Classic.
Russo comes to Rutgers by way of Lenape Valley High School and projects to wrestle as a heavyweight 'On the Banks.' Russo was a high school National Champion and finished second in the New Jersey State Tournament. Nationally, he was ranked first by the National High School Coaches Association, third by Wrestling USA and fifth by Intermat.
Dobish and Russo are two of a class of 12 that will come to Rutgers beginning in the fall of 2006. Joining them are nationally ranked wrestlers Ryan Fikslin (Roxbury, NJ), Spencer Kent (Paramus, NJ) and Ryan Fullam (Emerson, NJ). Chris Norrell (Phillipsburg, NJ), McPaul Ogbonna (Hanover, NJ), Ryan Rotelli (Lodi, NJ), Edwin Acevedo (Passaic, NJ) and Lee Tisler (Branchville, NJ) round out the New Jersey contingent. Out of state incoming freshmen include national preparatory school All-American Reginald Parker (Upper Marlboro, MD) and two-time North Carolina state third-place finisher Danny Pedone (Charlotte, NC).
Head coach John Sacchi's group of incoming freshmen were recently recognized as the 24th best Division I recruiting class in the nation by Intermat.
