High Point Solutions Stadium Recognized for Safety and Security

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (July 17, 2012) – The home of Rutgers football, High Point Solutions Stadium, will be recognized by the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security at its annual awards ceremony inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, La., on Aug. 1. The awards ceremony takes place in part of the organization’s annual National Sports Safety and Security Conference and Exhibition.
Honored with the Facility of Merit Award, High Point Solutions Stadium was selected for being a facility that has performed above and beyond normal operations, has demonstrated an innovative approach to enhancing safety and security or has resolved a significant safety/security issue or incident.
“We are truly honored that High Point Solutions Stadium has been recognized by the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security,” said Rutgers Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Tim Pernetti. “We are constantly working in innovative ways to improve the customer and fan experience, and we will always be aggressive when it comes to enhancing the safety, security and environment for our great Rutgers fans.”
High Point Solutions Stadium was nominated for the honor by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Campus organizations contributed towards the attainment of the award, including the Rutgers University Police Department, Rutgers' Environmental Health and Safety division and RU's Department of Emergency Services.
Formerly Rutgers Stadium, High Point Solutions Stadium underwent a $102-million expansion in 2009 to increase stadium capacity to 52,454. The project included nearly 1,000 premium club level seats and a south end zone addition of 11,412 seats, a 7,656-square-foot football recruiting lounge, a new scoreboard and sound system, restrooms and concession stands.
