PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Rutgers Head Football Coach Kyle Flood will be one of several celebrity participants playing in the True Blue Celebrity Softball Game on Wednesday, June 3, hosted by WFAN/Boomer & Carton and the New York Yankees. The game was organized as a show of appreciation for the NYPD and to honor the memories of slain officers Brian Moore, Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu, all recently killed in the line of duty.
"As the proud brother, grandson and family member of officers in the NYPD, this is a tremendous opportunity to show my support for individuals who put their lives on the line to protect us," said Flood. "I have always had a great deal of respect and admiration for the men and women that wear the NYPD uniform and this is just one way to say thank you and honor them."
The softball game is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Yankee Stadium and will be broadcast on WFAN. General admission tickets are available for just $12 per ticket by clicking here. Net ticket proceeds will benefit the Silver Shield Foundation, the Widows' and Children's Fund, and the families of Moore, Ramos and Liu.
Flood has several family members who have worked in the NYPD, including his grandfather, uncle, three cousins and his brother Jerry Flood Jr., who has spent over two decades on the force.
Media members wishing to attend "True Blue" should submit their request by e-mailing credentials@yankees.com by Tuesday, June 2 at 5:00 p.m. Applications must be completed by a sports editor or sports director.
