
Chris Ash Adds Rick Mantz to Support Staff

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers head football coach Chris Ash named Rick Mantz Director of High School Relations, it was announced today.
"I am pleased to welcome Rick to the Rutgers football staff," said Ash. "Rick is a well-respected and successful high school coach in New Jersey. He has great connections with coaches and players throughout one of the most talent-rich states in college football."
Mantz spent the previous two seasons (2014-15) as head coach at Passaic High School. Prior to taking over at Passaic, he served as head coach at South Brunswick High School for four seasons (2007-08, 2010-11), going 31-11 overall. In 2008, Mantz guided the Vikings to a 9-2 record and led South Brunswick to a share of the Greater Middlesex Conference Red Division crown and its first-ever playoff victory.
A graduate of Hillsborough High School, Mantz compiled an 81-39 record in 12 seasons as head coach of his alma mater. He led Hillsborough to the 2000 NJSIAA Central Jersey Group IV title.
Mantz coached former Scarlet Knights Shaun O'Hara (Hillsborough) and Mohamed Sanu (South Brunswick), both of which enjoyed success in the NFL. O'Hara played 11 seasons, including seven with the New York Giants, winning Super Bowl XLII and earning three Pro Bowl selections. Sanu was a third round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals and is currently in his fourth season.
Mantz served as a graduate assistant for two seasons from 1990-91 with the Scarlet Knights, working with the offensive line. He is a 1985 graduate of Rutgers University, earning a bachelor's degree in communications. Mantz also holds a master's degree from the State University of New Jersey.
Mantz and his wife Mary Anne reside in Flemington, N.J., with their son Mike, a student at Rutgers, and daughter Kaitlyn.
