Men's Golf Finishes at Waterville Intercollegiate

COUNTY KERRY, Ireland - Rutgers men's golf finished play at the Waterville Intercollegiate Monday afternoon at the Waterville Golf Links in County Kerry, Ireland. The Scarlet Knights shot a 303-315:618 to place third behind champion Richmond and runner-up Davidson.
For the third time in four outings, rookie Tony Jiang led the way for RU with a two-round scorecard of 77-76:153. Junior Matt Holuta finished right behind Jiang with a 78-76:154, while classmate Toks Pedro contributed the lowest 18-hole result that counted towards team scoring with his two-over-par 74 in the opening round. Freshman Adam Gray (76-81:157) and senior Michael Howe (76-88:164) also contributed to the team total.
Competing as an individual, sophomore Matthew Mourin produced the lowest 18-hole score with his opening round, one-over-par 73. Junior Jack Panagos also had a consistent 77-78:155 as an individual competitor.
This was the first time Rutgers hosted the Waterville Intercollegiate since 2012. The 7,378 yard, par-72 course has been in operation since the late 1800's and is consistently rated as one of the top golf course in the world.
The Scarlet Knights close out the fall season from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1 at the 2016 Kiawah Classic in Kiawah, South Carolina.
