Grant & Rogombe Earn Bids To NCAA East Regional
May 17 | Women's Track & Field
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Fifth-year senior Bryanna Grant and redshirt sophomore Rhonda Rogombe have earned bids to the NCAA East Regional being held at the USF Track & Field Stadium on May 24-26.
Grant, who earned the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award for the Scarlet Knights earlier this week, was a Big Ten finalist in the triple jump and reset the RU benchmark in her conference championship appearance. The Cranford, New Jersey product bested her outdoor PR for a fifth time this season and set a new Rutgers record at 12.80m (42' 0") on her final attempt to land in fifth place. Grant will be making her first NCAA Regional appearance.
Rogombe is a NCAA regional qualifier for the second-straight season and made the cut with her season-best mark of 1.73m (5' 8") at the USF Bulls Invitational. During the 2018 outdoor campaign, the Charlestown, West Virginia native was the runner-up at the Sam Howell Invitational and placed fifth at the Yellow Jacket Invitational. As a freshman in 2016, Rogombe set the Rutgers indoor high jump record at 1.80m (5' 10.75").
Athletes with the top 12 marks at the East Regional will qualify for the NCAA Division I Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships held June 6-9 in Eugene, Oregon.
