
Rutgers Athletics Welcomes Karen Kelly to Compliance Staff

PISCATAWAY – Rutgers University Athletics announced today that Karen Kelly has joined the Department as Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance. Kelly arrives "On the Banks" after serving as Associate Athletic Director for Compliance at Seton Hall University since July of 2018.
"Karen has a tremendous background in compliance, and I'm excited to add someone of her caliber to our staff," said Senior Associate Athletic Director/Chief Compliance Officer Matt Pottorff. "Adding top talent to our team is essential for Rutgers to continue operating an elite compliance program. I am confident that our institution will benefit from Karen's experience and abilities."
In her role with the Scarlet Knights, Kelly will focus primarily on supporting women's basketball, while also working with the track & field and cross country, swimming & diving, and gymnastics programs.
At Seton Hall, Kelly oversaw all athletic department compliance efforts, including creating policies and procedures to ensure institutional control and rules education for all members of the department.
Prior to her time in South Orange, Kelly served as the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance at George Mason University, Director of Compliance at the University of Tennessee, Assistant Director of Compliance at the University of Miami and was the Director of Compliance at Florida Atlantic University.
Kelly earned a master's degree in sports administration from Temple University and a B.A. in fine arts communications from the New York Institute of Technology, where she garnered All-America honors competing for the Bears' track & field program. She won the 100-meter high hurdles, 400-meter intermediate hurdles and high jump at the 2003 NYCAC Outdoor Championships. Prior to her arrival at NYIT, Kelly attended the University of Connecticut and was a member of the Huskies' track & field program.
