Mar 02 | Women's Track & Field
BOSTON – Redshirt junior Rhonda Rogombe won the high jump title while the Scarlet Knights qualified for finals racing in four events on the second day of the 2019 ECAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Rogombe cleared the bar at a season best 1.76m (5' 9.25") for the top position in the high jump. She bested her previous high of 1.70m (5' 7") collected at the Terrier Classic in late January.
Senior Oniesha Clarke and freshman Iyanla Kollock both advanced to the 60m finals on Sunday. Clarke, who advanced to the finals at the Big Ten Indoor Championships last week in the event and placed eighth, had the top time in the preliminaries with a finish line time of 7.54. Kollock, meanwhile, clocked in seventh in 7.65.
Freshman Reanda Richards qualified for the 500m finals with a new PR of 1:13.24. She surpasses her previous best time of 1:14.56 from her third place performance at the Metropolitan Championships.
Also advancing to finals racing for a second consecutive weekend was Jenna Sobieski in the 800m. The senior Scarlet Knight who logged the second fastest time in Rutgers record books last week in a sixth place finish at the Big Ten Indoor Championships, posted a time of 2:08.41 and took eighth in the preliminaries.
Rutgers' 4x800m relay team also qualified for the finals with its best time of the season. The quartet of freshmen Erin Bertscha and Brooke Riedy and sophomores Kiera Nealon and Kaitlyn Bragen put together a time of 9:05.43 to advance. Their time was over four seconds faster than their previous top result in a first place finish at the Last Chance Fastrack Meet.
Also scoring for the Scarlet Knights on Saturday was sophomore Olympia Martin in the 5000m, who took eighth with a time of 16:56.36.
