Camp instruction is led by the Rutgers Women's Basketball coaching staff and available current Scarlet Knights players.
Where is camp held?
All Skills Knights and Skills Academy will be held at the Rutgers Athletic Center (83 Rockafeller Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854) on the Livingston Campus of Rutgers University-New Brunswick in Piscataway, New Jersey.
Who can attend specific camps?
Any and all girls participants entering grades 3 thru 7 (as of Fall 2019) are allowed to participate in Skills Knight on Tuesday, June 11 and Thursday, June 13.
Any and all participants entering grades 7 thru 12 (as of Fall 2019) are allowed to participate in Skills Knight on Monday, June 10, Wednesday, June 12, and Monday, June 17. Players entering grades 7 thru 12 (as of Fall 2019) are also allowed to participate in Skills Academy. It is up to the parent/guardian if their 7th grader wants to play up with the high school campers (grades 7-12), or play with the middle school campers (grades 3-7).
Currently, we do not have a Skills Academy for players in grades 3 thru 6.
What do I need to bring?
Players are encouraged to bring water bottles, towels, basketball shoes, slides and any other items they see fit. Please do not bring a basketball; basketballs will be provided.
For players attending the Skills Academy, you are responsible for bringing your own lunch. A lunch break will be built into the camp schedule.
The C. Vivian Stringer Basketball Camp, Rutgers University, its employees and other entities will not and shall not be held responsible for any stolen, lost or damaged property.
Can I attend more than one Skills Knight/Skills Academy?
You are more than welcome to join us for multiple Skills Knight sessions and the Skills Academy. You can attend just one Skills Knight, or attend all three Skills Knights and Skills Academy (for athletes entering grades 7 thru 12). Unfortunately, we cannot offer a discount to campers who attend multiple sessions, but we can guarantee that you will have the opportunity to work on your basketball skills, train/compete with other competitive athletes, and have an enjoyable basketball experience.
What is the cost for camp and how do I pay?
When you check in at the Rutgers Athletic Center on the day of your session, you must pay with cash or check. All Checks can be made out to C. Vivian Stringer Girls Basketball Camps. Unfortunately, we are not accepting payment via credit card. Each Skills Knight is $55 per session. The Skills Academy is $80 for the full day.
What is the difference between Skills Knight and Skills Academy?
Skills Knight will be held in the evenings from 6pm to 9pm, while the Skills Academy is an all-day camp, running from 10am to 5pm. We are expecting local players for the Skills Knight, being that they are weekday evening sessions, and we expect more out-of-town/out-of-state players on Saturday for Skills Academy.
Are parents able to watch camp?
Parents are encouraged to stay at the Rutgers Athletic Center and watch the Skills Knight sessions and Skills Academy. There will be limited seating on the concourse. More seats are available in the arena in the upper bleachers.
Where can I park?
The Green Parking Lot (north side of the Rutgers Athletic Center) will be where parents and participants park their vehicles. Prior to the start of the camp, a link to the Rutgers Department of Transportation website will be sent to attendees. Any and all persons who are parking their vehicle in the Green Parking Lot must register their vehicle prior to parking outside the Rutgers Athletic Center. Failure to do so may result in parking tickets and/or towing. The C. Vivian Stringer Basketball Camp, Rutgers University, its employees and other entities will not and shall not be held responsible for any parking citations, fines, damage to vehicle, or towing expenses.
