Gotterup Named Golfweek 2019-20 All-American

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Junior Christopher Gotterup collected another national accolade, as he was a named honorable mention All-American by Golfweek. It marks the second All-America designation for Gotterup, who earned third team recognition by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) last week.
Also pegged a 2020 PING Division I Northeast All-Region selection, Gotterup finished his junior campaign as the top ranked Big Ten individual and No. 23 nationally with his 70.39 adjusted scoring average. The Little Silver, New Jersey native was also recognized in the final Arnold Palmer Cup rankings, a list recognizing the top individuals in the country, at No. 10 overall.
A 2019-20 Preseason All-Big Ten selection, Gotterup recorded three consecutive top 5 finishes to close out the 2019 fall campaign, which include an eight-shot win at the Fighting Irish Classic when he fired a 14-under par score of 199. Gotterup also tied for fifth place at the Quail Valley Collegiate with a 54-hole score of 205 (-11) during the impressive fall season.
Gotterup collected plenty of awards over the past few months, including the Co-Ben Hogan Award October Golfer of the Month, the 2019 Metropolitan Golf Association (MGA) Jerry Courville Sr. Player of the Year and the 2019 New Jersey State Golf Association (NJSGA) Amateur Player of the Year award.
Coming off arguably one of the best seasons in program history, RU finished 86th out of the 294 Division I teams nationally, according to GolfStat, and 79th in the country according to golfweek.com. The final GolfStat ranking was the seventh-best team result in the Big Ten Conference, as Rutgers closed the regular season in the top-half of the league rankings for the first time since joining in 2014. The Scarlet Knights' 288.74 scoring average was a program record.
