PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers University Athletics today announced that Samantha Ferris has joined the Department as Assistant Manager of Facilities, Events and Operations. In the role, Ferris will work with the Scarlet Knights' softball, track and field, tennis, and volleyball programs, as well as oversee Bainton Field, the Bauer Track & Field Complex, the Fred Hill Hitting Complex and the softball complex.
Along with the addition of Ferris, the department announced the promotions of Dan Ryan to Associate Athletic Director of Facilities and Operations, Tory Sharpless to Assistant Athletic Director of Events and Facility Scheduling and Paul Bianchi to Director of Facilities and Events. The department is also joined by Assistant Director of Facilities and Events Autumn Glowacki, who arrived at Rutgers in January after a four-year stint at George Washington University.
"I am thrilled to announce a restructure in the Facilities, Events and Operations Department," said Senior Associate Athletic Director Matthew Colagiovanni. "Being able to promote talented individuals within our department as well as add additional staff members over the past few months has strengthened our team and has allowed us to better service our fellow staff members and our student-athletes."
Prior to her arrival "On the Banks", Ferris worked in a number of event roles at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey and was promoted to Assistant Manager in 2019. Ferris served as the on-duty event manager for New Jersey Devil and Seton Hall Men's Basketball home games, as well as the on-site contact for Disney on Ice and other outside events and rentals.
Ferris also interned with the New York Jets and the Brooklyn Nets. With the Jets, Ferris organized and conducted pregame field pass check-in for home games and escorted Jets Flight Crew and alumni for appearances at sponsorship activations.
Ferris is a 2017 summa cum laude graduate of Rutgers University with a dual bachelor's degree in Sports Management and Labor Studies & Employment Relations.
A member of the Rutgers Athletic Department since 2015, Ryan will now work with RU's football, men's basketball programs and the golf programs, as well as assist with capital projects and oversite of the administrative staff for facilities and operations. Ryan will also generate all signage and branding throughout the Scarlet Knights' athletic facilities. Ryan previously served as the department's Assistant Athletic Director of Special Events and Programming.
Also a member of the department since 2015, Sharpless will work with Rutgers' field hockey, gymnastics and women's basketball programs, as well as coordinate all Big Ten and NCAA championships held on campus. In her new role, Sharpless is now responsible for the RWJBarnabas Health Athletic Performance Center and the RAC, and will help with scheduling for all of the department's facilities. Sharpless previously worked as the Director of Facilities, Events and Operations.
Bianci, who joined Rutgers Athletics in 2017, will now work with the men's lacrosse, women's soccer and the secondary for the men's basketball teams. Bianci will also be in charge of the future Rodkin Academic Success Center, Yurcak Field and the Busch Bubble. Bianci previously worked as the Assistant Director of Facilities and Operations.
A Rutgers' graduate, Glowacki began her athletics career "On the Banks" as a football student athletic trainer, including the Scarlet Knights' New Era Pinstripe Bowl appearance in 2011. In her current role, Glowacki is responsible for the needs of the baseball, men's soccer, women's lacrosse and wrestling teams.
