
Cetta, Gayer Place at Mat-Town Open II

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Michael Cetta (149) and Luke Gayer (165) earned podium finishes to highlight attached action for Rutgers Wrestling at the Mat-Town Open II Tournament on Sunday in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. Gayer finished third, while Cetta placed fourth for the Scarlet Knights at the all-day tournament inside Thomas Fieldhouse.
After a loss in the championship semifinals, Gayer closed the tournament with back-to-back wins to finish third at 165 pounds. In his bronze-medal match, Gayer earned an 8-4 decision over Brian Borden (Penn State). Cetta also advanced to the championship semifinals and wrestled back to a fourth-place finish at 149 pounds.
Andrew Gapas (149), Dylan Weaver (149), Stratos Kantanas (184) and John O'Donnell (HWT) also competed at the tournament. Full results can be found here.
Rutgers wrestles at RV Maryland on Saturday, February 4 in College Park. The dual is set for a 2 p.m. start with a national broadcast on Big Ten Network.
