Women's Basketball Adds Incoming Freshman Lisa Thompson to 2023-24 Roster

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Coquese Washington has announced another addition to the 2023-24 Rutgers women's basketball roster with incoming freshman Lisa Thompson. A graduate of Example Academy in Frankfort, Illinois, Thompson is a four-star recruit and No. 60-ranked prospect in the 2023 class according to ESPNW.

"We are truly fortunate to add a player like Lisa Thompson to our roster," Washington said. "Lisa is one of the most athletically gifted players in the entire 2023 class. She has an impressive vertical jump and really gets after it on the defensive end. She also scores the ball in droves, especially on slashing attacks to the basket. She is definitely going to add lots of spice to our transition attack."
The Joliet, Illinois native experienced quite a bit of success in high school, leading her team to the 2023 Independent National Championship. She was also hailed as the two-time Herald News Player of the Year and an Illinois All-State honoree. Prior to her time at Example Academy, Thompson attended Joliet West High School, where she also guided her squad to three consecutive conference championships her first three seasons.
Thompson averaged double-digit points all four years of her high school career, including 23 points per game during her junior season. She also recorded over five rebounds, three assists and four steals per game during her third year.
The 5-foot-9 point guard was nationally recognized for her talents, as she was named a McDonald's All-American Nominee as well as earning an invite to the USA Women's U17 World Cup Team Trials.
Thompson shined outside of the classroom as well, earning a spot on the Honor Roll four years in a row and Alpha Kappa Alpha student of the month selection twice.
