PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Another top 10 list was cracked on Thursday night as Rutgers volleyball closed out the season series with Purdue.
The No. 8 Boilermakers. the Scarlet Knights' eighth top 25 opponent of the season, made it a sweep with 25-14, 25-14, 25-16 set wins.
Junior Lexi Visintine joined the Rutgers rally-era season top 10 list in aces.
Additionally, freshman Natalie Robinson moved up into fifth on rally-era season blocks and into a tie for fifth in rally-era season block assists.
- Lexi Visintine topped the Scarlet Knights with seven digs and also served up an ace to move into the top 10 rally-era season ace leaders list with her 29th of the season. She needs two more to move into eighth past Beka Kojadinovic (2021) and three more to move into sixth past Tali Marmen (2018) and Hannah Curtis (2010).
- With her three blocks, Natalie Robinson moved into the top five on the rally-era season total blocks leaders list. With 107 on the season, she needs six more to move past Mikaela Matthews (2014) for fourth. Robinson also brought her block assist total to 94 on the year moving into a tie for fifth in the rally-era. She needs two more to move into fourth past Lauren Cloyd (2016) and seven more to place her name into the top three.
- Redshirt junior Alissa Kinkela led RU with seven kills. She is now 60 kills away from reaching the 1,000 career kill mark and 39 away from becoming the rally-era career kills leader.
- Freshman Lily Bolen collected a team-leading 13 assists with Georgia Lee adding 10 helpers.
- SET 1 (14-25) | Lexi Visintine cracked the rally-era season top 10 in aces in the opening frame, but Rutgers was unable to make a dent in Purdue's match-opening run. The Boilermakers kicked off competition with a 15-5 lead and hit .351 for the frame. RU got a bit of momentum with unanswered points stemming from block assists from Natalie Robinson and Anna Hartman, a kill from Alissa Kinkela and an ace from Georgia Lee, but the Boilermakers extended its lead to 20-8. Both squads tallied six points apiece down the stretch, including Visintine's 29th ace of the season to put her on the top 10 list.
- SET 2 (14-25) | The Boilermakers captured the same score in the second stanza for the 2-0 lead. The Scarlet Knights kept it close early with a 4-1 run, including one of four Hartman kills in the set, for RU to trail 8-5. A 10-3 run, however, kept Purdue in control. The Boilermakers hit a match-best .451 while Hartman hit .800 for the set with success on four of five swings. Alleigh Dutton, making the return to her hometown area, added four digs for the defense.
- SET 3 (16-25) | Purdue again jumped to an early edge with a 10-2 start. The Scarlet Knights put together a string of four consecutive points midway through to close the gap to 17-12. During the burst, RU saw blocks from Hartman and Robinson along with a Visintine kill. Kinkela swung .429 in the final frame with three kills on seven attempts.
- Rutgers volleyball continues its road swing on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Ohio State meeting the Buckeyes at 7 p.m.
