PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Dylan Shawver (133) and Lenny Pinto (174) both competed in the 2025 NWCA All-Star Classic, presented by Nike Wrestling, on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Jersey Mike's Arena.
 
In his Jersey Mike's Arena debut, Pinto lost to No. 3 Simon Ruiz (Cornell) in a back-and-forth matchup. Shawver lost by decision to reigning NCAA Champion Lucas Byrd (Illinois) to wrap up action in the all-star exhibition.
 
On the men's side, the showcase featured two reigning NCAA Champions and 10 Division I All-Americans from a season ago. The All-Star Classic serves as the 'unofficial' start to the collegiate folkstyle season.
 
In a rematch from last year's 'Blood Round' at NCAAs, Pinto landed the matches' first two takedowns for an early 6-2 lead in the first period. Ruiz countered with a rideout and two near-fall points in the second before an escape and takedown sealed a 9-6 victory for Ruiz.
 
Shawver forced a scoreless opening period with Byrd before adding the first point of the match with an escape in the second. However, Byrd landed a takedown and near fall en route to a 7-1 win.

No. 15 Rutgers wrestling opens its 2025-26 season Sunday against Bloomsburg, Centenary and Gardner-Webb at Jersey Mike's Arena. The quad begins at 10 a.m., with the Scarlet Knights set to wrestle three consecutive matches Sunday morning.
