Addie Osborne's Five RBIs Lift Softball To First Win Over Notre Dame Since 2012

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Rutgers softball closed out the NFCA Leadoff Classic on Sunday, holding on to beat Notre Dame, 6-4, for the Scarlet Knights' first win over the Irish since 2012.
Sophomore Addie Osborne batted in five of RU's six runs, including a two-run home run, her second long ball of the weekend, and a bases-loaded clearing double.
The Scarlet Knights improved to 3-2 on the year.

- Sophomore Addie Osborne finished 2-for-4, driving five runs on a two-run home run in the second and a three-run double in the fourth.
- Sophomore Kassandra Gewecke picked up her first Scarlet Knight career victory with 5.2 innings of work and giving up only one extra base hit.
- Junior Sam Rohwer delivered RU's other run of the game with an RBI single.

- Addie Osborne took her first pitch deep into left for a 2-0 Rutgers lead in the top half of the second.
- The Scarlet Knights denied the Fighting Irish a run in the third as the inning came to a close with Sam Rohwer getting the ball into Charleigh Schuettler at the plate to retire the side.With two outs in the fifth,
- Rutgers added a trio of runs for a 6-0 edge. Rohwer delivered an RBI single to left and the bases were loaded for Osborne's ball into left center to get lost in the sun to clear all aboard.
- Notre Dame got four runs on five hits in the bottom of the sixth. Back-to-back singles gave the Irish's Kaia Cortez the opportunity for an RBI single and Ava Zachary followed with a three-run home run to left as Rutgers held on to a 6-4 lead.
- A walk and a single put the go-ahead run at the plate with two outs in the bottom of the seventh for the Fighting Irish, but Osborne wrapped up the game catching a foul ball along the third-base line.
