Kate Hickey, senior associate athletics director/senior woman administrator, joined the Rutgers staff in January 1999. Her responsibilities include oversight for Olympic sports, as well as the Rutgers Leadership Academy, Sports Medicine, Sports Performance and R Care. Hickey also coordinates all Title IX efforts on behalf of the athletics department. Hickey serves as one of Rutgers' representatives to the Big Ten Sports Management Committee and the Big Ten Joint Group. Prior to her current role, Hickey oversaw all of Rutgers' NCAA compliance efforts in addition to sport supervision, life skills and SAAC.

Outside of Rutgers, Hickey served as a board member for the National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC) from 2007 to 2013, including serving as NAAC's president from July 2011 to June 2012. She was also the first chair of NAAC's Committee on Reasonable Standards, the committee charged with setting industry guidelines for campus compliance efforts. In addition, Hickey was a board member for the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators from 2008 through 2010 and a member of the NCAA Management Council from 2002 through 2007. She served as the Management Council's chair in 2006-07 and as the chair of its Subcommittee on Legislative Review from 2002 through 2006.

In May 2007 and May 2008, Hickey served as a facilitator at the NCAA Student-Athlete Development Conference, a forum for Division I, II and III student-athletes to learn about and enhance their leadership, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

In 2007, Hickey was named the Administrator of the Year for Division I-A by the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators. In 2011, Hickey was awarded NAAC's Frank Kara Leadership Award for her efforts in establishing Reasonable Standards for compliance.

Prior to her appointment at Rutgers, Hickey served the Big East Conference as assistant director for compliance from August 1996 to December 1998 and was the Southern Conference's assistant commissioner for compliance from June 1995 to July 1996. Hickey received a masters degree in sport administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a bachelor's degree in health and physical education from the University of Rhode Island.
