No. 21 Field Hockey Travels to No. 6 Penn State, Hosts No. 12 Maryland for Senior Day on Big Ten Network

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – No. 21 Rutgers field hockey will play its final two regular season games this weekend. The Scarlet Knights will travel to No. 6 Penn State for a contest Friday, then return home to host No. 12 Maryland Sunday for Senior Day, televised live on the Big Ten Network. Dean Linke and Kara Lentz will have the call on BTN.

The Scarlet Knights (9-6 overall) are seeking to reach double-digit wins for the first time since 2008 and the first time under current head coach Meredith Civico. The team has already recorded a recorded three Big Ten Conference wins this season.

Rutgers finishes the regular season against two top-12 opponents, making it eight of their final ten games of the season coming against nationally ranked foes. RU's three ranked wins this season (over No. 23 Old Dominion, No. 19 Iowa and No.12 Stanford) are the record for ranked wins in a season, and the victory over No. 12 Stanford was the highest ranked team beaten in program history.

Emily Howarth notched defensive saves in each game last weekend, and now sits ninth in the NCAA with five defensive saves on the year. RU has eight defensive saves on the year. Penn State leads the nation with 14 defensive saves.

Rutgers will honor five seniors on Sunday for Senior Day - captains Haley Meade and Simrin Dhillon, Katie Beilin, Jessica Carey and Jade Dixon.
 
Penn State enters the weekend at 12-3 overall and 4-2 in the conference. The Nittany Lions are led offensively by Moira Putsch, who paces the squad with 13 goals, 11 assists and 37 points. Between the pipes, Jenny Rizzo has a 1.27 goals-against-average and a .802 save percentage that tops the conference. In the all-time series, Penn State leads 16-4-3, with Rutgers last win coming in 1985.
 
Maryland comes into the weekend at 11-5 overall and 5-2 in the league. The Terps have won five straight, including three straight ranked wins versus No. 25 Ohio State, No. 6 Penn State and No. 3 Virginia. Lein Holsboer leads the team with 10 goals, nine assists and 29 points. In goal Sarah Holliday has a 1.47 goals-against-average and .769 save percentage. Maryland leads the all-time series against the Terrapins 29-3-1. The last RU victory came in 1998.
