No. 25 Women’s Soccer Set for Regular Season Finale with Michigan

Scarlet Knights host Wolverines on Wednesday for nationally-televised match

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – No. 25 Rutgers women's soccer concludes its regular season schedule with Michigan on Wednesday at Yurcak Field. Match time is set for 4 p.m. ET live on Big Ten Network with Lisa Byington and Kathryn Markgraf on the call.
  
RUTGERS QUICK KICKS
  • Rutgers (11-2-4, 5-2-3 Big Ten) picked up a 1-0 road win in overtime at Indiana on Saturday.
  • Sophomore forward Brittany LaPlant scored the game winner in the 96th minute. It marked the second straight game winner for the sophomore, after scoring in the 83rd minute of RU's 1-0 win over Big Ten leader Ohio State last Sunday.
  • Redshirt junior goalkeeper Casey Murphy posted her 13th clean sheet of the year with the three-save effort. It marked the 42 shutout of her career, which ranks second in Rutgers history and third in Big Ten history.
  • Murphy leads the Big Ten in GAA (0.28), save percentage (.915), shutouts (13), and shutouts per game (0.76). She is also tied for the nation lead with 13 shutouts, while ranking top 5 in GAA and save percentage.
  • Rutgers is ranked in all three major polls, including No. 25 by United Soccer Coaches. No. 19 by Soccer America and No. 21 by TopDrawersSoccer.com. The Scarlet Knights sit at No. 17 in the NCAA RPI.
SCOUTING MICHIGAN
  • Michigan (6-5-6, 3-4-3 Big Ten) snapped a three-game losing streak with a 3-0 win over Illinois on Saturday.
  • Reilly Martin leads the Wolverine offense with 17 points, including six goals and five assists.
  • Sarah Stratigakis follows with 11 points, including three goals and five assists.
  • Sarah Jackson paces the goalkeepers with 11 games in net, maintaining a 1.03 GAA with 60 saves.
SERIES VERSUS THE WOLVERINES
  • The all-time series between Rutgers and Michigan is tied at 1-1-1, dating back to the Scarlet Knights' entrance into the Big Ten in 2014.
  • Last season, UM outlasted RU with a 3-2 double overtime win in Ann Arbor.
