No. 25 Women's Soccer Hosts No. 11 Penn State for Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinal

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – No. 25 Rutgers women's soccer, slated as the fourth seed, will host fifth-seeded No. 11 Penn State on Sunday, Oct. 29 in a Big Ten Tournament quarterfinal match. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET at Yurcak Field.   

RUTGERS QUICK KICKS 
 
  • Rutgers finished its regular season with an overall record of 12-2-4 and a Big Ten mark of 6-2-3.  
  • Four Scarlet Knights earned All-Big Ten Conference honors. Redshirt junior goalkeeper Casey Murphy (First Team), sophomore defender Chantelle Swaby (Second Team) and freshman forward Amirah Ali (Third Team) collected All-Big Ten accolades. 
  • Murphy, the conference leader in GAA, save percentage, and shutouts was named Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year. Murphy's 14 shutouts top the nation, while ranking top five in GAA (0.26) and save percentage (.921). She stopped 58 of 63 shots on goal this season. 
  • Ali garnered Big Ten Freshman of the Year accolades, while also being selected to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team. Across 18 starts, Ali has posted five goals and four assists, including the game winner over then-No. 12 Wisconsin and three helpers in conference play.  
  • Swaby garnered Second Team All-Big Ten honors. Swaby solidified a back line that guided Rutgers to a program record 924:07 straight scoreless-minutes of its opponents to open the season, tying the program record of nine consecutive shutouts along the way. 
  • Senior midfielder Christy Monroy was Rutgers' recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.  
 
SCOUTING PENN STATE 
  • Penn State concluded the regular season with a record of 10-4-3 overall and a 6-2-3 mark in conference action.  
  • Megan Schafer was named Second Team All-Big Ten with a team-best five goals and three assists.  
  • Emily Ogle was named First Team All-Big Ten, finishing second on the team with four goals and tying for the team lead with three assists. 
  • Kaleigh Riehl (Second Team) and Charlotte Williams (Third Team) were also All-Big Ten performers, while Frankie Tagliaferri was named to the conference All-Freshman Team.  
  • In net, Rose Chandler has seen the most time, averaging a 0.74 GAA and 37 saves.  
 
SERIES VERSUS THE NITTANY LIONS 
  • Since becoming league opponents in 2014, Rutgers leads Penn State by a record of 3-2-2. 
  • The Scarlet Knights and Nittany Lions played to a 0-0 double overtime draw this season on Thursday, Oct. 12.  
  • It marks the third-straight season the teams will meet in postseason play.
