LANCASTER, Pa. – New Rutgers field hockey assistant coach
Ajai Dhadwal captained the United States men's national field hockey team to a bronze medal in the Pan American Cup, held August 4-12 at Spooky Nook Sports. The USA defeated Trinidad and Tobago 3-0 in the bronze medal game to secure their second medal in tournament history.
"This was a great team effort throughout the entire tournament," Dhadwal told
PAHF. "Our group has been working as hard as possible, whenever we can. This is two medals in one year, which hasn't been achieved in quite a while, so this is happy times for our team."
Dhadwal, a midfielder with 91 international caps, led the United States to three wins overall in the tournament. A member of the national team since 2009,
Dhadwal joins the Rutgers staff this week for his first season as an assistant coach.
