PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers baseball turns the calendar to May with a Tuesday home game against Columbia starting at 1 p.m. WRSU 88.7-FM will have the radio broadcast, while BTN Plus will provide a one-camera stream. The Scarlet Knights will play eight of their final 11 games of the regular season at Bainton Field, having won 9-of-14 at home this season.

Most recently, RU went 1-3 last week with a midweek victory over Saint Peter's before falling three times at Purdue. The finale against the Boilermakers was a 1-0 result, as Rutgers did not allow an earned run. It was the 10th time the pitching staff held an opponent to two or less runs in a game.

Fifth-year senior Chris Folinusz led the Scarlet Knights by hitting .317 in April on 19 hits. Junior Nick Matera collected 17 RBIs in the month and redshirt freshman Dan DiGeorgio scored 12 runs. The pitchers worked to a 4.01 ERA in the 16 games, led by a 0.98 mark by graduate student Karl Blum in 18.1 innings.

The offense has picked up 91 RBIs with two outs this season, 18 more than the opposition. The Scarlet Knights have seven hitters with at least 20 knocked in. With the gloves, the team has turned 38 double plays to match the total from all of last season.

Sophomore Eric Reardon is slated to make his sixth start of the year on Tuesday. The left-hander logged a career-high six innings last time versus Saint Peter's, allowing no runs and retiring 18 of the last 20 batters faced. Junior Serafino Brito paces the Big Ten with 22 appearances, owning five saves.

THE OPPONENT

Tim Post will make his fourth start of the season, holding a 4.76 ERA and a .282 batting average against.
