PISCATAWAY – Rutgers Athletics announced a change in leadership within the softball program on Thursday. Jay Nelson, the Scarlet Knights' head coach since 2007, has not been renewed.
"Jay Nelson has served Rutgers and its student-athletes well during his tenure as head coach," said Director of Athletics Pat Hobbs. "We are grateful for his contributions, but we believe it's time for new leadership. We wish Coach Nelson the best in his future endeavors."
A national search for the next head coach will begin immediately. Associate head coach Jay Miller will serve as interim head coach.
