COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Rutgers baseball suffered a 17-2 setback Saturday against Maryland at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium.
Â
Redshirt freshman
Dan DiGeorgio hit a pair of doubles to extend his hitting streak to 14 games, the longest by a Scarlet Knight rookie since Steve Nyisztor's school-record mark of 26 games in 2010. Fifth-year senior
Chris Folinusz clubbed his fifth career home run with a blast over the batter's eye in the top of the seventh.
Â
Maryland (23-27, 8-11) plated two runs, one unearned, in the bottom of the first to take a quick lead. Rutgers (24-22, 7-13) countered with one in the third. Junior
Luke Bowerbank reached on an error and later scored on a two-out RBI double by DiGeorgio.
Â
However, the Terrapins answered with 11 runs on seven hits to break the game open in the last of the third. Will Watson led the home team with eight RBIs on the day.
Â
On the mound, Taylor Bloom (3-7) earned the win by striking out six over seven innings with one earned run permitted. Freshman
Harry Rutkowski (4-6) took the loss.

The series wraps up Sunday at 1 p.m.
