Rutgers Football Falls at #3 Virginia Tech 35-14

Despite numerous turnovers and penalties, the Hokies (7-0, 2-0 Big East) beat the Scarlet Knights (1-6, 0-3) for the 10th straight time by relying on their tailback tandem of Suggs and Kevin Jones.
Suggs scored on runs of 3 and 42 yards. Jones added 132 yards, including a 58-yard TD run in which he reversed direction from the left sideline and charged right into the end zone.
Ryan Cubit was 17-for-32 passing for 222 yards for two touchdowns to lead the Scarlet Knights.
Virginia Tech's Bryan Randall was 11-for-15 passing, and he hit Ernest Wilford for a 16-yard TD in the first quarter. Randall also was sacked four times and turned the ball over twice.
Rutgers kept the game close with a mix of fakes, reverses and quarterback draws. The Scarlet Knights capitalized on two turnovers by the Hokies deep in their own territory for two touchdowns.
Brandon Haw intercepted a bobbled catch by Ernest Wilford in the second quarter and returned it 11 yards to set up a 12-yard TD pass by Cubit. It was also the first TD given up by Tech's defense in the first half this season.
Rutgers recovered a fumbled pitch by Suggs in the third quarter and drove 36 yards for a touchdown to make it 28-14.
Aaron Martin caught a 12-yard pass in the second quarter for Rutgers' first score, and Markis Facyson caught a tipped pass in the third quarter for 31-yard touchdown.
The Hokies put the game out of reach in the first quarter with three touchdowns, starting with Suggs' 3 yard run. Randall then hit a wide-open Wilford for a 16-yard score. Suggs zigzagged 42 yards between defenders into the end zone to make it 21-0.
In the second quarter, Jones ran to the left sideline ran into a crowd of Scarlet Knights, reversed direction, then ran 58 yards behind Bryan Randall for a touchdown.
