Seabrooks Named BIG EAST Co-Defensive Player of the Week

Seabrooks, a senior from Paterson, NJ, helped spark the Scarlet Knight victory with his first quarter interception of Army quarterback Zac Dahman’s pass, which he returned 33-ydards for Rutgers first touchdown. Seabrooks also added three tackles and broke up a pass for the Scarlet Knights in the victory.
It was the second interception return for a touchdown in Seabrooks’ career at Rutgers. In the first game of the 2001 season, Seabrooks picked off a pass and returned it 73 yards for a score in Rutgers’ 31-15 win over Buffalo.
A starter at safety for the Scarlet Knights since the 2000 season, Seabrooks is currently tied for seventh overall in the BIG EAST with 26 tackles after three games, averaging 8.7 stops per contest. He is second in the league in tackles among all defensive backs.
Seabrooks shares the BIG EAST “Defensive Player of the Week” honors with Virginia Tech linebacker Mikal Baquee. Others named by the BIG EAST include running back Kevin Jones of Virginia Tech, who was named “Offensive Player of the Week,” and Pittsburgh return specialist Torrie Cox, who was named “Special Teams Player of the Week.”
The Scarlet Knights return to action on Sept. 21 at noon when they travel to Pittsburgh to face the Panthers in the first BIG EAST Conference game for both teams this season.
