Rutgers Announces 21-Member Football Recruiting Class

PISCATAWAY, NJ - Rutgers University head football coach Greg Schiano announced his 21-member 2004 recruiting class at a press conference this afternoon held at the Hale Center.
The recruiting class is comprised of 13 student-athletes who played their high school football in New Jersey (12 of whom hail from the state of New Jersey and one from New York), five from Florida, two from California, and one from Ontario, Canada.
"Today is quite a significant day in the development of the program here at Rutgers," Schiano said. "Since the day I arrived, Bob Mulcahy and I have had a vision and partnership about what we wanted to do here at Rutgers and (today) is another step.
"All these recruits are quality athletes and quality human beings.
"We met several of our needs, specifically the offensive line. We needed to build some depth there and we also needed to solidify the kicking position," he added. "I think this is a good class - a deep class - and I am very proud of the job our staff did in putting this together.
"The goal when we started was that every class has to be better than the one before and we have continued to do that four recruiting classes in a row and that is how you build championship football programs."
