NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – Sophomore Beth Fittery (Denver, PA), has been named the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Gymnast of the Week, the conference office announced today. Fittery’s Gymnast of the Week honor is the first of her career.
A 2004 NCAA Regional alternate in the all-around, Fittery helped lead RU’s charge against New Hampshire despite dropping a close decision on the first weekend of competition. Fittery took first place in the all-around, scoring a 38.375, including an event-best 9.775 on the floor.
Last season, Fittery enjoyed an outstanding freshman campaign as one of the team’s top all-around competitors, averaging a 38.342. Her 9.724 average on the floor exercise was third-best on the team.
The Scarlet Knights return to action on Saturday, Jan. 15, when they travel to Raleigh, NC to take on N.C. State and James Madison in a tri-meet.
