Rutgers Wins USAG Collegiate National Gymnastics Championships

ITHACA, NY - The Rutgers University gymnastics team (16-9) scored 193.025 points on its way to becoming USAG Collegiate National Champions on Friday, April 15, on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, NY.
Texas Women's University finished second with 192.175 points, while UC Davis placed third with 191.500 points.
The Scarlet Knights had an outstanding meet, winning both the uneven bars and balance beam and taking second in the floor exercise.
Sophomore Lorena Johnson (Lilburn, GA) led RU, scoring 38.300 total points to finish third in the all-around. Senior Nicci Bradder (Dover, NH) took fourth in the all-around with 37.925 points, followed by freshman Stephanie Pannick (Archbald, PA) in a tie for fifth (29.075).
Senior Stephanie Zick (Pittsburgh, PA) registered a season-high score of 9.875 to help Rutgers secure its win in the uneven bars event. Sophomore Casey Santangelo (Cherry Hill, NJ) led the Scarlet Knights with a first place finish, scoring a career-high 9.800 on the balance beam, while junior Gina Roselle (Tinton Falls, NJ) took third with a 9.775. Pannick was the squad's top competitor on the vault, as she finished second with a 9.625.
'It was a total team effort,' said head coach Chrystal Chollet-Norton. 'This was a big win.'
Sophomore Beth Fittery (Denver, PA) and Zick will participate in the individual bars competition on Saturday, April 16.
